Frank's Power Rankings

Frank had a strange day on Sunday. The teams offense scored plenty and at times Frank was crazy accurate and sharp. But when targeting number 1 receiver Justin O’Shea, Frank struggled with his ball placement. The 2 still teamed up for 3 scores but it is odd to see Frank miss his favorite receiver so often. When targeting Ken silver Frank was absolutely perfect. Ken scored 4 times and could not be stopped. He is hands down this years Pre-Season MVP. Holmes took a lot of heat for taking Ken over guys like Maca And Ray Sullivan but that move is already looking like the steal of the year. Holmes himself had another up and down day on both sides of the ball. He had a huge TD grab showing off strong hands but also had multiple end zone drops. He had a huge pass break up on Dan Oshea (his nemesis) but then allowed a big play over the middle to Dan only 2 plays later. Holmes is doing a great job of getting open and creating separation, now he must start cashing in on his hard work. Side note- Justin Oshea had 3 interceptions. He knows that he needs to be this defenses anchor. Sunday he proved that he can still be a shut down corner.

TeamHolmes continues to to show up to scrimmages in great numbers. This team has not had a single scrimmage with less than 4 players. Today we saw a lot of Frank Semisa at QB (As expected) and he played great. The team did not stall on a single drive. They scored on every single possession. Frank was calm and and accurate all day. His quick release kept the defense off balance and on their heels. His chemistry with Justin Oshea was on full display. The two connected for a couple of scores and a ton a first down yardage. But it’s officially time to start recognizing what Ken Silver is doing this Pre-Season. He’s been a matchup nightmare for opposing defenders. He’s got great size and deceptive speed. But his best attribute is his catch radius. He’s the 2nd option that this team NEEDED so desperately to compliment Justin. With Ken and Justin playing at a high level this team could be destined for greatness.

This is NOT the team with the most talent. This team does NOT have a good defense. This team does NOT have elite speed. This team DOES have Frank Semisa and Justin Oshea. And at Sunday’s scrimmage the duo reminded everyone who they are and how dangerous the two of them playing together can be. Frank hit Justin for 3 touchdowns and 2 of them were full field scores. Let’s not forget Ken silver who also had 3 scores. While this team doesn’t have the desired outside speed teams want to have, it has 2 big targets in Justin and Ken. Josh P had some bright moments but must clean up some of his drops for this offense to look complete. The bad news is the this defense is still very much a question mark. The good news is that Semisa’s offense already appears to be installed. The team was well prepared and seemed to have a firm grasp on the playbook. This is pretty impressive considering we are only one week removed from draft night.

Smith’s Point Captains

Team Johnny has the most talent 1 through 6 of all 4 rosters. They have 2 guys in both Colin Tully and MikeC who have started multiple games at QB. Colin Tully’s 2013 MVP QB performance should give him the starting not going into training camp. Outside you have Nick Delmonte, A premier deep threat in this league and opposite him you have Steve N who is a great possession receiver. In the middle you have 2 first down getters in Tyler and Coach Johnny. I think this team has all the talent on paper, the questions will be how Johnny plans to put his player in the best position to win.
